Women's Basketball Defeated By Conference Foe York College

New York - The City College of New York was defeated 65-72 by York College Wednesday night at the Nat Holman Gymnasium.

Ashley Straughn (Freeport, NY) garnered her 13^th double-double of the season as she scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Freshman Taryn VanEsselstyn (Chatham, MA) finished the game with 13 points while grabbing 7 rebounds. Donika Rexhepi (White Plains, NY) contributed to her team’s efforts as she finished the game with 9 points, 5 assists and 5 steals.

Kadisha Wickham scored 23 points and grabbed 9 rebounds before fouling out with 4:30 left in the game. Niya Jarvis finished with a double-double as she scored 19 points and grabbed 15 rebounds.

With the loss, CCNY drops to 6-13 (3-6 CUNYAC) in the season, while York improves to 9-10 (4-4 CUNYAC).

Women's Indoor Track and Field

The junior had a solid meet at the Danny Curran Invitational. She finished 27th in the long jump with a distance of 4.35 meters and followed it up with her best performance of the meet, finishing 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 9.88 meters.

Baseball

The freshman played in all five games for the Beavers this week, batting an even .500. His 9-for-18 effort included six runs scored, two doubles, an RBI, a walk, and three stolen bases, as he improved his season average to .370.
