VanEsselstyn Scores Career High 21 Points Against The College of New Rochelle

New York - The City College of New York defeated The College of New Rochelle by a score of 87-21 at the Nat Holman Gymnasium Friday night.


Freshman Taryn VanEsselstyn (Chatham, MA) racked up another double-double, her sixth of the season, as she scored a career high 21 points while grabbing 12 rebounds. Tai-Danae Bradley (Richmond, VA) was the team’s second leading scorer, coming off the bench to score 12 points. Rynae Rasley (Arizona) finished the night with 10 points and 6 steals, while Simone Tharkur (White Plains, NY) added to her team’s winning efforts by scoring 10 points and grabbing 4 rebounds.


Zena Jamal and Kristina Nilaj were the leading scorers for The College of New Rochelle. Jamal finished with 12 points while Nilaj added 11 points. Elizabeth Johnston grabbed 11 rebounds for the Angels while playing all forty minutes.


With the win, CCNY improves to 7-13 in the season, while The College of New Rochelle drops to 1-15.

Women's Indoor Track and Field
The junior had a solid meet at the Danny Curran Invitational. She finished 27th in the long jump with a distance of 4.35 meters and followed it up with her best performance of the meet, finishing 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 9.88 meters.

The freshman played in all five games for the Beavers this week, batting an even .500. His 9-for-18 effort included six runs scored, two doubles, an RBI, a walk, and three stolen bases, as he improved his season average to .370.
