Vickers Scores Career High 23 Points In Loss To Medgar Evers

New York - The City College of New York lost against conference foes Medgar Evers by a score of 81-89 on Friday night.


Freshman guard Israel Vickers (Queens, NY) scored a career high 23 points to lead the Beavers offense while adding 4 assists and 3 steals. Freshman center Matas Rascius (Queens, NY) continued his stellar play finishing the game with 22 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks. Vincent Roberts (Baldwin, NY) contributed to his team’s efforts with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.


For the Cougars, Kallai Sharpe and Ronald Holloway scored 27 and 21 points respectively. Winston Douglas and Jovan Deare each finished with a double-double. Douglas scored 14 points and grabbed 15 rebounds, while Deare scored 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.


With the loss, CCNY drops to 7-16 (3-9 CUNYAC) in the season, while Medgar improves to 12-12 (6-6 CUNYAC).

The freshman played in all five games for the Beavers this week, batting an even .500. His 9-for-18 effort included six runs scored, two doubles, an RBI, a walk, and three stolen bases, as he improved his season average to .370.

Women's Indoor Track and Field
The junior had a solid meet at the Danny Curran Invitational. She finished 27th in the long jump with a distance of 4.35 meters and followed it up with her best performance of the meet, finishing 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 9.88 meters.
