New York, NY – Despite going through a tough season, men’s basketball managed to capture a spot in the CUNYAC Championships.  Coach Andy Stampfel’s men will face the number 1 seeded York College at the York Sports complex tomorrow (February 20, 2010) for the CUNYAC Quarters.

Junior Guard Xavier Gonzales will lead the Beavers, averaging 12 points per game while he led the team in steals.  Freshman Point Guard Israel Vickers who led the team in assists will run the offense for Coach Stampfel Saturday.  Freshman Center Matas Rascius and Junior Forward Vincent Roberts will provide supporting roles on the inside game.

City College’s men’s basketball has a rich history and tradition of winning. The only program to ever capture both the NIT title and the NCAA National Championship in the same season, the program has since been striving on the road to prominence.

Tomorrow, the Beavers will once again keep its tradition in mind and begin its bid for redemption.  All are welcome to come and support!
