Men's Basketball Suffers Double Overtime Loss Against St. Joseph's College (NY)

New York - The City College of New York lost a hard fought game against St. Joseph’s College (NY) by a score of 88-89 in double overtime.


The leading scorer for CCNY was freshman center Matas Rascius (Queens, NY). He finished the game with 21 points and 12 rebounds, to garner his third double-double of the season. Xavier Gonzalez (Brooklyn, NY) also finished the game with a double-double as he scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Three other Beavers finished the game with double digit points as Terence Johnston (Astoria, NY), Ben Washington (Brooklyn, NY) and Vincent Roberts (Baldwin) finished with 17, 11 and 11 points respectively.


For the Bears, Justing Gist had a game high 25 points while fellow teammate Wilkerson Exantus finished the game with a double-double as he scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. The Bears’ offense was evenly spread out as 6 out of their seven players finished the game with over ten points.


With the loss, CCNY drops to 6-14 (2-7 CUNYAC) in the season, while St. Joseph’s College (NY) improves to 5-13.

Women's Indoor Track and Field
The junior had a solid meet at the Danny Curran Invitational. She finished 27th in the long jump with a distance of 4.35 meters and followed it up with her best performance of the meet, finishing 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 9.88 meters.

The freshman played in all five games for the Beavers this week, batting an even .500. His 9-for-18 effort included six runs scored, two doubles, an RBI, a walk, and three stolen bases, as he improved his season average to .370.
