Men's And Women's Track & Field Compete At Patriot Games

, NY – The CCNY men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams competed in the Patriot Games at George Mason University on January 30th.

 

Rollesscia Hurd-Rosa (Bronx, NY) competed in the women’s long jump as she finished with a distance of 4.26m. Rosa also competed in the 60 meter hurdles, finishing with a time of 11.57 seconds. Accompanying her was fellow team mate Annemarie Agbodji (Bronx. NY) whom finished with a time of 11.23 seconds. Stephanie Ravello (Bayside, NY) had a solid outing for the Beavers as she finished in 19th place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.26 seconds and 13th place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:05.76 seconds. 


In the field for the men, freshman Chiziterem Uwaga finished in 11th place in the men’s weight throw with a final distance of 5.30m and in 17th place in the men’s shot put with a throw of 6.36m. Alain Saint Dic (Brooklyn, NY) finished 15th in the men’s long jump with a distance of 5.70m.

Saint Dic had a good outing in the 60 meter dash as he finished in 19th place with a time of 7.32 seconds. Freshmen Samuel Nkama (Bronx) and Darnell Simon (Queens, NY) also competed in the 60 meter dash as they finished with times of 7.68 and 8.17 seconds respectively. Freshman Paul Dedewo (Bronx)had a great outing in the men’s 400 meter dash, finishing in 5th place with a time of 51.71 seconds. Dedewo also competed in the 800 meter run, finishing in 17th place with a time of 2:10.65.

 

Both teams will be back in action at the New Balance Invite in the Armory on February 5th and 6th.

Athletes of the Week
Willis Fernandez
Baseball
The senior shortstop was pivotal to the Beavers 3-1 record to open the season. He hit 10-17 for an average of .588 with 6 runs and 4 RBI's. His best game came against Yeshiva College in which he batted 4-5, hitting for the cycle, while scoring 3 runs and batting in 3 RBI's himself in the 15-1 rout of their opponents.
Jessica Wang
Women's Fencing
The sophomore has been a force for the Beavers at foil all season long. Her stellar performance continued at the Eastern Women's Fencing Championships. Wang claimed the silver medal, winning 14 bouts while only losing 3. She was also named to the First Team All Conference Team for the 2009-2010 season.
