Rascius Scores 24 Points In Exciting 73-72 Victory Over John Jay

New York - The City College of New York won a thriller of a game against the John Jay Bloodhounds by a score of 73-72 on Friday night.
 
The leading scorer for CCNY was freshman center Matas Rascius (Queens, NY). He finished the game with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Xavier Gonzalez (Brooklyn, NY) contributed to the victory with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assist and 3 steals, while Vincent Roberts (Baldwin) and Brendan Barile (New City, NY) finished the game with 12 points apiece. Freshman Terence Johnston (Astoria, NY) scored two points in the game, but his steal with 5 seconds left in the game forced a foul by John Jay’s Daniel Desir. Johnston then scored the critical free throw to give the Beavers the 73-72 lead and seal their victory.
 
For the Bloodhounds, Vaughn Mason finished with a team high 20 points and 14 rebounds to record a double-double. Fellow teammate Daniel Desir also finished the game with a double-double as he scored 13 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
 
With the win, CCNY improves to 7-15 (3-8 CUNYAC) in the season, while John Jay drops to 1-21 (1-10 CUNYAC).

Jessica Wang
Women's Fencing
The sophomore has been a force for the Beavers at foil all season long. Her stellar performance continued at the Eastern Women's Fencing Championships. Wang claimed the silver medal, winning 14 bouts while only losing 3. She was also named to the First Team All Conference Team for the 2009-2010 season. 
Willis Fernandez
Baseball
The senior shortstop was pivotal to the Beavers 3-1 record to open the season. He hit 10-17 for an average of .588 with 6 runs and 4 RBI's. His best game came against Yeshiva College in which he batted 4-5, hitting for the cycle, while scoring 3 runs and batting in 3 RBI's himself in the 15-1 rout of their opponents.
