Men's And Women's Indoor Track & Field Compete At New Balance Invite

Results

New York, NY - The Men’s and Women’s Track and Field competed in the New Balance Invitational over the weekend posting modest results.  The Invitational consisted of several powerhouse programs, including Duke, Villanova, George Mason and many more. 

 

City College continues to rebuild its program as Freshmen Paul Dedewo (Bronx) and David Vaughan (Hollis, NY) finished in the lower half of their events.  Dedewo finished 44th in the 200-meter dash and 58th in the 400-meter dash while Vaughan placed 41st in the 60-meter dash. 

 

The women put forth a solid effort but struggled, finishing in the bottom end of the results.  Junior Annemarie Agbodji (Bronx. NY) finished 78th in the women’s 400-meter dash clocking in at 1:12:90.  Rollesscia Hurd-Rosa (Bronx, NY) finished 48th in the women’s 60-meter hurdles with a time of 11:36.  Freshman Asha Brown and junior Jessica Palliant (Brooklyn, NY) placed 61st and 62nd respectively in the women’s 60-meter dash with times of 9:03 and 9:13. 

 

Both teams will be back in action at the 2010 Boston Valentine Invitational on February 12, 2010.

Willis Fernandez
Baseball
The senior shortstop was pivotal to the Beavers 3-1 record to open the season. He hit 10-17 for an average of .588 with 6 runs and 4 RBI's. His best game came against Yeshiva College in which he batted 4-5, hitting for the cycle, while scoring 3 runs and batting in 3 RBI's himself in the 15-1 rout of their opponents.
Jessica Wang
Women's Fencing
The sophomore has been a force for the Beavers at foil all season long. Her stellar performance continued at the Eastern Women's Fencing Championships. Wang claimed the silver medal, winning 14 bouts while only losing 3. She was also named to the First Team All Conference Team for the 2009-2010 season.
