Men's Tennis Wins Season Opener

Roosevelt Island, NY – Men’s Tennis won their first match against NYU-Polytech last night in their home opener at Roosevelt Island. 

CCNY opened up with two wins from the doubles matches.  Freshman Asaf Breier (Tel Aviv, Israel) and Junior Gaiell-Michell Kercy (New York, NY) won their first competition of the year along with the other winning tandem, Freshman Oleg Dudal (Brooklyn, NY) and Senior David Gaillou (Brooklyn, NY)

The Beavers won four of the six singles matches, resulting in a 6-3 win.  Breier and Dudal once again came out victorious while Senior Steven Tran (Bronx, NY) redeemed himself from an earlier loss in the doubles with a win in the 4 spot.  Freshman John Kantar (Brooklyn, NY) also ended the day with a win in the 5 spot. 

The Beavers will travel to Staten Island Tuesday (3/23/2010) with hopes of capturing their second win of the season against CSI.

Women's Indoor Track and Field
The junior had a solid meet at the Danny Curran Invitational. She finished 27th in the long jump with a distance of 4.35 meters and followed it up with her best performance of the meet, finishing 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 9.88 meters.

Baseball
The freshman played in all five games for the Beavers this week, batting an even .500. His 9-for-18 effort included six runs scored, two doubles, an RBI, a walk, and three stolen bases, as he improved his season average to .370.
