Baseball Eliminated From CUNYAC Tournament

The No. 3 seed CCNY lost to Baruch College, 8-5 and was eliminated from tournament play in the CUNYAC 2010 tournament. The Beavers faced the Bearcats on Friday, April 30 at the MCU Park in Brooklyn, NY. The Beavers got started early by scoring two runs in the first inning but were unable to mount a comeback after giving up seven runs in the second and third innings.

Freshman Andrew Romanella batted in the first run with a single up the middle. Romanella was 3-4 for the game and has been solid all season both on the plate and on the field. Sophomore Pat Barry also had three hits and scored a run for the Beavers. Senior Willis Fernandez batted in the fourth run for CCNY, scoring Barry on a single up the middle. The senior standout hit .387 for the 2010 season and received CUNYAC 2^nd team honors.

CCNY improves from a 7-29 record from last season to a 13-20 performance this season. The Beavers will play their final game on Saturday, May 8 at the MCU field.

Baseball

The freshman played in all five games for the Beavers this week, batting an even .500. His 9-for-18 effort included six runs scored, two doubles, an RBI, a walk, and three stolen bases, as he improved his season average to .370.

Women's Indoor Track and Field

The junior had a solid meet at the Danny Curran Invitational. She finished 27th in the long jump with a distance of 4.35 meters and followed it up with her best performance of the meet, finishing 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 9.88 meters.
