Men's Tennis Dropped in the CUNYAC Quarterfinals

The No. 5 seed CCNY lost a really close match on Saturday, May 1 against conference rival No. 4 seed Baruch College.  The CUNYAC quarterfinal game came down to the fourth singles match between CCNY’s Gaiell-Mitchell Kercy and Baruch’s Tadas Valiukenas.  Kercy who had a stellar year lost in a tiebreaker, with scores of 4-6, 6-7. 

 

Junior Gabriel Felder took the number one singles match (6-4, 6-2), and the #3 doubles match (9-7) while paired up with Kercy.  Freshman Alexander Jonsson also won his singles match (6-3, 6-3) and doubles match (partnered with Asaf Breier) with a score of 8-4 . 

 

The Team will play their final game of the season on Sunday, May 9th at Yeshiva.

#1 Staten Island defeats #8 Lehman, 5-0

#2 Hunter defeats #7 Brooklyn, 5-0

#3 John Jay defeats #6 York, 5-0

#4 Baruch defeats #5 CCNY, 5-4

 

TUESDAY, MAY 4, SEMIFINALS (at U.S. National Tennis Center)

#1 Staten Island vs #4 Baruch, 7:00 pm

#2 Hunter vs #3 John Jay, 7:00 pm

 

THURSDAY, MAY 6, FINAL (at U.S. National Tennis Center)

Women's Indoor Track and Field
The junior had a solid meet at the Danny Curran Invitational. She finished 27th in the long jump with a distance of 4.35 meters and followed it up with her best performance of the meet, finishing 10th in the triple jump with a distance of 9.88 meters.

The freshman played in all five games for the Beavers this week, batting an even .500. His 9-for-18 effort included six runs scored, two doubles, an RBI, a walk, and three stolen bases, as he improved his season average to .370.
